“La Ruta de La Sal” 2021 starts next Friday, May 28, heading to Ibiza

The 33rd edition of La Ruta de la Sal, the Mediterranean high-altitude regatta destined for the island of Ibiza, will be held from May 28 to 30. 
The Ibizan authorities support the departure and the sailors registered in La Sal have already prepared the departure for this date.

After four postponements of the most emblematic high-altitude regatta in the Western Mediterranean, due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has altered the performance of the test since March last year, this week the trigger has already been given for the preparation of the start of the regatta, which this year will have two starting points, the departure from Port Ginesta in Barcelona and the departure from the port of Denia in Alicante.
The two starts will take place throughout the morning of Friday, May 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., establishing 12:00 a.m. on Sunday 30, as the deadline to finish the tour.
The organization of the Ruta de la Sal has publicly thanked the patience of the sailors who have maintained their loyalty throughout the successive postponements that accumulates this XXXIV edition of The Ruta de la Sal. The Organizing Committee has also thanked the support of the Collaborating companies that in these difficult times have maintained their faithful and determined support for this event, a strategic promoter of nautical activity in our country. 
The complicity of the Club Náutic de Sant Antoni de Portmany, the Real Club Náutico de Denia, and Port Ginesta, which host the large fleet of La Sal in their ports, should also be positively highlighted, and they have shown their total willingness to facilitate the various date changes.



Very special and emotional edition
This edition of La Sal 2021 will have a very special character, since it will be an emotional reunion and friendship between the followers and faithful participants of this test, who want to see each other again in this classic sailing event, and that many have been sailing for years. The tours
The different routes will have a minimum distance of approximately 140 nautical miles for the Barcelona version, which departs from Port Ginesta (Barcelona) with arrival at Sant Antoni de Portmany, Ibiza. 
The Denia Version will depart from the port of Denia to Sant Antoni de Portmany, leaving the islands of Formentera, Tagomago and Ibiza on the port side, with a minimum distance of approximately 120 nautical miles. 
From Denia there is also the start of the MiniSal version, specially designed for crews that want to start in High-altitude Regattas, departing from Denia and arriving at Sant Antoni de Portmany. 
This will have a minimum distance of approximately 55 nautical miles.

Participants
Among the participants in this post-pandemic edition, highlight as always of the large participation of the sailboats that will depart from the RCN of Denia, with usual units such as the Swan 45 Brujo by Alberto de Castro, the A35 by Juan Carlos Sanchiz with its Adrenalin, the regular Clem, the Swan 56 by Jaime Olazabal, the Alaik, the Swan 62 Alaik by Alberto Zardoya, the Jeanneau 64 New Illusion by Juan Jose Herrero, the Azuree 41 Sopu Dos by Jorma Nuutinen, the Dufour 525 Miko by Miguel Lainz, the Estropada-Café del Mar, from the J92-S by Toni Tur, the Arkona, a Hanse 54 by Frenchman Thierry Rochet, the Aviador, Firts 53 by Gabriel Medem, the Sun Odissey 45 Cascón by Cesar Quintanilla, among others.
Those who will start from CM Port Ginesta (Barcelona) highlight the Swan 60 Flomali of the Belgian Alex Staring, the Dutchman Francis van Belle with his Swan 56 La Belle, the competitive Grand Soleil 50 Marjuin of Pere Roquet, the Hanse 46 Nirvana of the navigator José Martín, Albert Ferrer's Anna Katharina, Rossina di Mare, Jose Singla's S&S 63, David Tur's Atlant del Vent, Toni Arbox's Blauw, Yamandu Rodriguez's Ascata Tres, Fernando Alvarado's Alcyon Primero, the Bandit of Juan Carlos Otamendi, among many more.
