Waiting for the launch of Oasis 34 meters for the next few months, we board Oasis 40, the superyacht from which it descends, the progenitor of a new lifestyle. Leading us through the refined environments and the extraordinary open spaces of this yacht, which have made it an equally extraordinary commercial success – 18 have been sold since launch, in just over a year – thinks Désirée Sormani, one of the best pens in the area of Yacht Design.
Defining it as innovative might seem obvious. The new Benetti Oasis 40M is something more: it is a real lifestyle, a new way of experiencing the sea. The first model, named Rebeca by its owner, was presented at the end of September in a private event organized in Portofino and then exhibited in the public eye during the Genoa Boat Show; a model that encompasses all those assets that have contributed to creating the history of the Azimut | Benetti Group: research and development, new stylistic codes, quality, reliability, investments, financial solidity, goals to be achieved. Oasis 40 meters (so called in not even suspicious times compared to what we are experiencing globally) is truly a perfect island of peace, an oasis of well-being with a chic taste that offers a unique contact with the sea.

Made in spec, totally in fiberglass, its American owners Mr. & Mrs Casulli immediately liked: their profiles coincided perfectly with what the design team had in mind when they designed this superyacht: a casual couple with a dynamic lifestyle and informal, who loves to explore new destinations and who favors contact with nature. Former offshore world champion, Tim Ciasulli was immediately struck by the project and its huge beach area in direct contact with the sea that characterizes it .
The external lines, elegant and modern, are the work of RWD: the British studio has combined a sporty straight bow to this immense stern that slopes down pieddans l’eau. To magnify the contact with the surrounding nature, he has opened all the decks with large full-height windows that illuminate the interiors with natural light even in the wheelhouse, transforming it into a magical place, where to stop and appreciate the navigation. The more glamorous side of the yacht is, as announced, the stern: a place suitable for conviviality and parties but more simply the perfect place for life in the open air without any physical and visual barrier. Two side wings that can be opened make it possible to expand the total area up to 90 square meters, with a width of up to 11 meters. A large central transformer, which will plunge into the sea up to 1 meter, it facilitates access to the sea and is appreciated by those who practice diving. The heart of this area is a central sunbathing island, a large C-shaped sofa and a 7 square meter swimming pool with 5,500 liters of heatable water and hydromassage; to avoid waste, fresh water is collected, filtered and put back into circulation clean.

Further convivial areas are the upper deck, where an intimate lounge extends into an outdoor terrace and the sun deck, a further 90 square meter area furnished with a large rectangular dining table for 12 people, a bar and a second Jacuzzi.
Another feature much appreciated by Mr. Ciasulli was the continuity between exterior and interior. From the beach area you enter directly into the huge living room: the style is informal but casual-chic. Nothing is flashy but everything catches the attention, starting from the teak flooring that continues with slats arranged horizontally so as not to change mood with the outside. Benetti has chosen the New York studio Bonetti / KozerskiArchitecture for the interiors. “The search for eclecticism is important to bring news that derive from contamination”, underlines Giovanna Vitelli. “Architects who work in various fields of architecture, from residential to retail to hotels, therefore stimulated to different worlds and experiences: a resource enjoyed by the Oasis project.

At its debut in the nautical sector, the New York studio introduced new suggestions derived from residential architecture. “At the beginning the customer didn’t exist so we imagined an owner who wanted to experience the boat more freely”, says Enrico Bonetti, “The most difficult thing was to think of a project that didn’t have a place, because it can be anywhere. Before proceeding, we visited other Benettis and noted down what we as laymen did not like: in the nautical world the interiors are crowded with furniture and the materials are constantly changing ”. On the other hand, on Oasis 40M everything is designed to be fluid and linear. The Bonetti / Kozerski studio has chosen an organic design with minimal details, soft colors and materials such as Calacatta or Vagli marble, teak.
The saloon is a unique environment with the aft platform, divided into a living room with two sofas in shades of white and gray arranged in an arch that welcome guests and a dining area; behind the wall an elegant and refined bar cabinet that opens like a casket, revealing a backlit onyx panel.

From the right side of the saloon, a corridor leads to the owner’s suite of discreet elegance, a full beam room that includes a seating area on the starboard side and a large bed turned towards the stern, off-center to the left; large full-height windows overlook the beauty of the sea while a corridor leads even further forward to the walk-in closets and his and hers bathrooms. Also part of the owner’s area is a multipurpose cabin which on board Rebeca is a gym but can also be an office or an additional cabin. The sleeping area for guests on the lower deck features four double cabins.

The helm station on the upper deck is a truly futuristic position: the classic steering wheel is replaced by a carbon fiber “light bridge console” with a futuristic design developed by Benetti and Seastema; the level of software integration is very high, and is of military origin with ceiling screens and a Besenzoni armchair with controls divided into two small “peninsulas”, as if they were additional armrests. It goes without saying that the performances are excellent: thanks to an efficient hull completed by the vertical bow, Oasis 40M reaches a maximum speed of 18 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots. Excellent consumption in slow navigation, it consumes just over 100 l / h, with an autonomy greater than that necessary to make an Atlantic crossing. With great satisfaction of the owners attentive to this aspect.
