Team Spain, helmed by Diego Botin, claimed a spectacular win at the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix, powering past New Zealand and France in a dramatic final showdown on the Hudson River. The victory marks Spain’s second straight U.S. event win this season, after their triumph in San Francisco, and now puts them at the top of the Season 5 SailGP leaderboard.

The weekend’s racing delivered high drama with five different winners across six fleet races, showcasing the unpredictable nature of New York’s urban racecourse. Among the standout moments was Mubadala Brazil’s historic first fleet race win, led by Martine Grael—an emotional breakthrough for the team, though they narrowly missed the final.
Despite a mixed performance, defending champions Australia’s Flying Roos and the U.S. SailGP Team drew passionate support from the local crowd. Over 10,000 fans turned out at the Race Stadium on Governor’s Island to witness some of the most dynamic and high-stakes racing of the season.
All eyes now turn to the next stop: the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix, set for July 19–20, 2025, as the global championship heads to Europe.
