The XX Symposium de Puertos Deportivos — one of Spain’s longest-running and most respected forums for the nautical sector — will take place on 28 and 29 May 2026 in Palma de Mallorca at the Port Centre, organized by ASMAR hosted by the Authority of the Balearic Ports.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the symposium has been a cornerstone of the Spanish nautical calendar since its inception in 1989, serving as the foremost platform for discussion, analysis and strategic dialogue on the evolution of recreational marinas and sports ports across the country.
Under the theme “El pasado nos guía, el futuro nos impulsa” (“The past guides us, the future drives us”), the event will bring together experts, policymakers, port authorities, industry leaders and stakeholders to debate key issues shaping the future of the marina sector — from sustainability and innovation to economic development and regulatory frameworks.
A Forum Rooted in Sector Evolution
Over its four-decade history, the symposium has consistently addressed the most pressing challenges and opportunities confronting Spain’s marina infrastructure. Discussions at past editions have ranged from environmental and legal frameworks to technological advancement and economic resilience, establishing the event as an influential forum for strategic thinking and policy engagement.
Recognised and supported by a broad range of public and private organisations — including Puertos del Estado, the Directorate General of the Merchant Marine, regional governments, coastal municipalities and sector associations such as Marinas de España, ANEN and CEACNA — the symposium also highlights the important role that marinas play in the broader blue economy, tourism development and local job creation.
What to Expect in 2026
The Palma symposium will include keynote addresses, specialised sessions and panel discussions, exploring topics such as marina sustainability, regulatory reforms affecting the sector, strategic planning for tourism and port-city integration. High-level speakers are expected to include senior government officials and leaders from national and regional port authorities, reflecting the event’s role as a bridge between policy, practice and industry priorities.
As Spain continues to consolidate its position as a global leader in nautical tourism and port services, the XX Symposium on Sports Ports will be an essential meeting point for shaping the sector’s trajectory in an era of innovation, environmental challenge and economic opportunity.
