At the Palma International Boat Show 2026, amid the gleam of polished hulls and the hum of conventional engines, one boat stood in near silence — and yet drew some of the loudest attention of the entire exhibition.
Her name: DHB–P01.
Her mission: nothing less than rewriting how the world thinks about recreational navigation.
We met Philippe Esposito, President and Co-Founder of Dhamma Blue, the first Spanish company fully specialized in hydrogen-powered boats. And before we even spoke about technology, range, or innovation, we asked the simplest question:
Where does the name “Dhamma Blue” come from?
“Dhamma means ‘the path to follow.’ Blue is the sea. It’s the path we believe navigation must now take.”
And with that sentence, the philosophy behind the project became crystal clear.
A Spanish Team Quietly Building a Global First
Headquartered in Madrid, a team of just 2 specialists has achieved what major shipyards are still studying on paper.
Their fully operational demonstrator, the DHB–P01, was presented to both press and public in Palma after over 50 days of sea trials and more than 150 nautical miles of testing. This is not a concept. This is not a prototype on a stand.
This boat works. Reliably. Repeatedly. Silently.

But the real breakthrough is what you don’t hear — and what you don’t emit.v
Hydrogen on Water: Zero Emissions, Zero Noise, Maximum Impact
Dhamma Blue’s propulsion system combines electric drive with a hydrogen fuel cell. When hydrogen meets oxygen inside the fuel cell, electricity is generated to power the engine.
The only by-product? Water vapor.
As co-founder and naval engineer Robin Imaz explains:
“If the hydrogen is green, then the circle is fully closed.”
This solves the biggest limitation of battery-only electric boats: range. Where electric boats stop, Dhamma Blue keeps going.
And it does so in complete silence — no vibration, no engine noise — making it ideal for lagoons, protected marine parks, canals, and sensitive ecosystems.

Dhamma Blue is already 70% ready with authorizations and installations for one hydrogen refueling point in Palma de Mallorca.
They are not waiting for infrastructure.
