The La Roche-Posay Racing Team has revealed the new livery of its AC75 foiling monohull as the yacht returned to the water in Lorient, France, marking the start of its on-water campaign for the 38th America’s Cup in Naples 2027.
Now finished in the distinctive blue and white colours of title sponsor La Roche-Posay, the yacht symbolizes a partnership focused on science, innovation, and high-performance sailing. The campaign will also serve as a real-world testing platform for the brand’s sun protection and skincare products under the demanding conditions of competitive racing.
Although based on the team’s 2024 AC75, the yacht has undergone an extensive technical transformation to comply with the new America’s Cup regulations. Major updates include a redesigned deck layout, revised cockpit ergonomics, new electrical and hydraulic systems, and an entirely new onboard energy management system following the removal of the pedal-powered “cyclors.”
The latest rules also reduce crew size from eight sailors to five, requiring a complete rethink of onboard operations, communications, and control systems while maintaining the exceptional performance of the foiling monohull.
Capable of exceeding 50 knots, the AC75 remains one of the most advanced racing yachts ever built, combining cutting-edge aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, electronics, and materials engineering. Development will continue throughout the campaign, with engineers focusing on optimising foils, flight control, energy efficiency, and overall reliability ahead of racing.
The relaunch is also a milestone for French sailing, as the La Roche-Posay Racing Team becomes the first French challenger to compete in consecutive America’s Cup campaigns. Following months of engineering and simulation work, the team now begins an intensive testing programme before relocating to Naples later this year.
With its new identity and significantly evolved technology, the French challenger enters the next phase of preparation aiming to compete with the world’s best teams when the 38th America’s Cup gets underway in 2027.
