Barcelona has once again become the world capital of classic sailing as the 19th edition of the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona officially begins today. From 8 to 11 July, more than 40 of the world’s finest classic and vintage yachts will compete in one of the Mediterranean’s most prestigious regattas, hosted by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona.
The event brings together an exceptional fleet spanning more than a century of yacht design, including celebrated yachts such as Eilean, Manitou, Viveka, Halloween, Dione, Adventuress, Phidias, Bakea, Kahurangi and Islander, showcasing the timeless elegance and craftsmanship of classic sailing.
Following today’s registration and welcome activities, racing will take place from 9 to 11 July, with up to two races per day across the iconic waters of Barcelona. As part of the Mediterranean International Championship (CIM) and the Mare Nostrum Trophy, the regatta continues to reinforce Barcelona’s position as one of the world’s premier destinations for classic yachting.
With spectacular yachts, world-class competition and the unique backdrop of Barcelona’s coastline, the Puig Vela Clàssica once again promises four unforgettable days celebrating maritime heritage, elegance and the enduring spirit of classic sailing.
