Spain’s Los Gallos Triumph Again with Back-to-Back SailGP Victory in Portsmouth

Spain’s Los Gallos SailGP Team continued their impressive 2026 campaign by securing a second consecutive Rolex SailGP Championship victory, winning the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix in Portsmouth after an intense weekend of high-speed racing.

Led by Diego Botín, the Spanish team overcame strong competition from Artemis SailGP Team (Sweden), Explora Journeys Swiss SailGP Team, and NorthStar SailGP Team (Canada) in a thrilling four-boat final contested in challenging winds on the Solent.

Following their recent victory in Halifax, Los Gallos have now closed the gap on championship leaders Bonds Flying Roos SailGP Team (Australia), while Sweden’s Artemis climbed to third overall after another remarkably consistent performance under Nathan Outteridge.

The Portsmouth event featured demanding conditions, with teams racing using the larger 18-metre wingsail. Every qualifying race was won by a different team, highlighting the increasingly competitive nature of the 2026 SailGP season.

Home favorites Emirates GBR SailGP Team, driven by Dylan Fletcher, narrowly missed the final after costly mistakes during the qualifying races, despite strong support from more than 20,000 spectators across the weekend.

With momentum building and the championship battle tightening, SailGP now heads to Germany for the Rockwool Germany Sail Grand Prix | Sassnitz, scheduled for 22–23 August 2026, where the world’s fastest sailing teams will continue their fight for the Rolex SailGP Championship title.
