The First Ocean Pact Congress in the Canary Islands will take place on 24–25 September 2026 at the CICCA Conference Centre in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, bringing together key stakeholders from across the maritime sector to discuss the future of the Blue Economy and sustainable ocean development.
The congress will provide a strategic platform for government representatives, scientific experts, industry leaders and maritime organisations to explore the opportunities and challenges arising from the European Ocean Pact and its impact on island territories.
Aligned with the UNESCO Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030), the event aims to strengthen cooperation, promote innovation and support policies that accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable maritime economy.
The congress is organised as part of the EMD in My Country initiative by the Government of the Canary Islands through the Ministry of Economy, Industry, Commerce and Self-Employed, together with the Canary Islands Maritime Cluster, the ECE Advance2 Programme, and the Canary Islands Institute of Technology (ITC).
Supporting partners include A3M Atlantic, Blue Supply Chain, and Isla Bonita.
The event is expected to become an important forum for shaping the future of the Blue Economy in the Atlantic region while reinforcing the Canary Islands’ role as a leading maritime innovation and sustainability hub.
