The 21st Palermo–Montecarlo Regatta gets underway today, 18 August, with 44 boats set to leave the Gulf of Mondello on the iconic 500-nautical-mile offshore challenge to Monte Carlo.
The fleet includes the spectacular 30-metre Black Jack 100, back to defend its Line Honours title and the race record of 38 hours, 53 minutes and 13 seconds, set in 2025. Joining her are the 26.8-metre Marta07, the 24-metre Fiamme Gialle Nice, and a strong fleet of TP52s, Class40s, Swan 60s and offshore racing yachts.
Beyond the battle for Line Honours, the Angelo Randazzo Trophy for overall corrected-time victory promises a closely fought contest, with teams including Arkas Blue Moon, Chocolate 3, Zephir, Viva Malta and Favorit among the contenders.
The race starts at 12:00 CET today, with around 10 knots of westerly breeze forecast for the opening stages.
Organised by the Circolo della Vela Sicilia in collaboration with the Yacht Club de Monaco, the Palermo–Montecarlo has become one of the Mediterranean’s signature offshore races, connecting Sicily and Monaco through a demanding test of strategy, endurance and seamanship.
All eyes now turn to the Gulf of Mondello as the 2026 fleet begins its journey towards Monte Carlo.
