In 2025, the Dutch capital will shine brighter than ever as it celebrates a unique milestone: the 10th edition of SAIL Amsterdam, coinciding with Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary and 50 years of SAIL. This historic convergence will transform the city into one of the world’s largest sailing celebrations.

From 20 to 24 August 2025, more than 800 ships – from majestic tall ships to historic vessels and innovative sailing yachts – will parade into Amsterdam’s IJ harbour. An estimated 2.3 million visitors from across the globe are expected to join the festivities, making it a once-in-a-generation maritime spectacle.

A Living Tribute to Maritime Heritage
Since its inception in 1975, SAIL Amsterdam has celebrated the Netherlands’ deep connection to the sea and its role as a global maritime crossroads. Over the years, the event has grown into a cultural phenomenon, where tradition and innovation meet on the water.
The 2025 edition promises to be the most ambitious yet, featuring:

- A grand Parade of Sail, with tall ships from all over the world.
- Interactive exhibits showcasing centuries of Dutch maritime history.
- A focus on sustainability and the future of sailing, highlighting how technology and tradition can coexist.
- Family-friendly events, concerts, and cultural programming across the city.

SAIL Amsterdam is more than a local festival – it is a platform for global connection. The event brings together crews, cultures, and communities from every corner of the world. With its mix of history, spectacle, and innovation, the jubilee edition will reinforce Amsterdam’s position as a true maritime capital.
