The Sasga Menorquín 48 FB has been awarded European Powerboat of the Year 2026 in the category of motor yachts up to 18 metres. The accolade was presented on 17 January during the official ceremony at Boot Düsseldorf, one of the world’s leading boat shows.

The award, granted by the European Yacht & Powerboat of the Year Awards jury, recognises technical excellence, build quality, and the overall coherence of the project developed by Sasga Yachts. The boats were evaluated under real navigation conditions through a rigorous comparative testing process.
Judged on technical and professional criteria
The European Yacht & Powerboat of the Year Awards have been presented for more than twenty years by a consortium of leading European nautical magazines. The winners are determined solely by a professional jury of specialist journalists, not public voting or commercial popularity.

Each nominated boat is tested at sea. Judges assess build quality, seakeeping, design coherence, applied innovation, and the overall onboard experience.
A highly competitive category
The Menorquín 48 FB competed in one of the most demanding categories: motor yachts up to 18 metres. This segment attracts strong entries from major international shipyards. Other nominees included the Fjord 490 Open, SAY 52, Itama 54 and Invictus TT550, highlighting the significance of the recognition.
Jury highlights
The jury praised the Menorquín 48 FB for its balance and contemporary reinterpretation of Mediterranean tradition.
- Diego Yriarte (Náutica y Yates, Spain): “The Menorquín 48 combines the tradition of the Mediterranean llaüt with modern naval construction technology.”
- Ole Puls (Boote, Germany): Emphasised the solid build quality, semi-displacement hull, and cruising experience designed for enjoyment at sea.
- Roland Regnemer (Yachtrevue, Austria): Highlighted that the yacht prioritises an authentic, unhurried onboard experience rather than maximum speed.
Acceptance and recognition
The award was received by José Luis Sastre, founder of Sasga, who thanked the shipyard team for their collective effort.

The accolade strengthens Sasga Yachts’ international reputation and validates its philosophy of technical coherence, identity, and a clear vision of Mediterranean boating.
