From July 9 to 12, the Mediterranean’s crown jewel for classic sailing returns as the 18th Puig Vela Clàssica takes to the crystal-clear waters off Barceloneta, Port Olímpic, and Port Vell. Presented by Puig and organized with the Real Club Nàutic de Barcelona (RCNB), this iconic regatta once again brings a fleet of over 30 beautifully restored classic yachts, some of which are over a century old.

A Display of Sailing Heritage
Mayor Jaume Collboni, alongside Marc Puig and RCNB President Jordi Puig, inaugurated the XVIII edition, emphasizing the event’s role in reconnecting Barcelona with its maritime roots and showcasing stunning vintage vessels. Expect a breathtaking sight as the fleet—safely bracketed into four categories (Vintage, Classic, Modern Classic, and Big Boats)—sails under the warm Mediterranean sun.

International Line-up & Competition
The regatta will feature more than 30 yachts from across the globe, including fan favourites like Moonbeam III, Mariette, Islander, and Manitou—historic yachts once owned by royals, presidents, and legends. Their presence ensures that the Puig Vela Clàssica maintains its spot on the Real Federación Española de Vela (RFEV) calendar and competes in the International Mediterranean (CIM) Championship and Mare Nostrum – Spanish Cup.
Classic Racing in a Modern City
With three thrilling days of racing scheduled from July 10 to 12, spectators lining the beaches of Barceloneta will be treated to timeless maritime spectacle. Each fleet will tackle courses set in front of the city’s iconic skyline, making for an unforgettable blend of elegance, tradition, and competition.
Heritage, Sustainability & Tourism
Organized with the support of Barcelona City Council, the event reinforces Barcelona’s deep connection with the sea while promoting heritage conservation and sustainable tourism. Classic-boat aficionados will find themselves immersed in meticulous restorations using traditional materials, all while contributing to eco-friendly practices and maritime culture.
