The Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team has secured the 2025 Season Championship title, defeating Australia and New Zealand in a spectacular winner-takes-all $2 million Grand Final held in Abu Dhabi.

In one of the most dramatic finales in SailGP history, Emirates GBR battled their way back from third position to overtake Australia’s BONDS Flying Roos and New Zealand’s Black Foils during the fourth leg of the final shootout — sealing an unforgettable victory.
This marks the first time the British team has ever won a SailGP Grand Final, and it becomes the first team in history to complete the “treble”, sweeping all three major season achievements:

- 🏆 Grand Final victory – $2,000,000 prize
- 🏆 Season overall points champion – $400,000
- 🏆 Impact League champion – $57,000 to its Purpose Partner, the 1851 Trust
A season of sporting excellence — and purpose.
A Final for the Ages
The Grand Final offered nonstop suspense, with all three teams — Emirates GBR, Australia, and New Zealand — taking the lead at different stages. A tactical masterclass from the British crew ultimately defined the outcome.

Driver Dylan Fletcher reflected on the triumph:
“It was an unbelievable final and an unbelievable season for the team. We had some ups and downs but we dug deep and finished off the season with the treble. We stayed calm, kept chipping away and took the opportunity when it came. What a team, what a year… I’m stoked.”
Team CEO Sir Ben Ainslie praised the crew’s resilience and intelligence under pressure:
“I’m so proud of this team. The racing at this level is incredibly tight but they really deserved it. It was a classic final — the Aussies had the lead off the line, but we made some really smart choices that won us the race. It’s a serious achievement.”
Tension and Precision on the Water

Strategist Hannah Mills described the showdown as “wild and tense,” adding:
“We knew it would come down to the wire. Even with a bad start there’s always a chance to stay smart, put the boat in the right place, and wait for the others to make mistakes. Luckily we managed to do that.”
The four-person crew onboard for the final race consisted of:
- Dylan Fletcher – Driver
- Hannah Mills – Strategist
- Luke Parkinson – Flight Controller
- Iain Jensen – Wing Trimmer

Grinders Nick Hutton and Neil Hunter supported from the chase boat after the reduced crew format due to light wind conditions.
A Season of Dominance — On and Off the Water
Emirates GBR closes the 2025 SailGP season with:
- 3 event wins
- 12 race wins
- 30 podium finishes
Beyond racing success, the team was also crowned Impact League champions for the second year in a row, becoming the first in SailGP history to win the sustainability-focused trophy twice — highlighting excellence beyond pure performance.
Earlier in the week in Abu Dhabi, Zara Tindall awarded Sir Ben Ainslie the Impact League trophy on stage.
