Baltic 146 Path has undergone successful sailing trials off Jakobstad and been delivered on time to her owner
Finished in a dramatic grey and orange livery, Path is the very embodiment of a modern, fast, bluewater cruising yacht, built in lightweight advanced composites to Baltic Yachts’ highest standards and equipped for powerful sailing and ultra-comfortable living afloat.
Third largest Baltic
Commissioned by an experienced client who has already completed a circumnavigation and has used his knowledge to help design the new yacht, Path is the third largest hull by volume to be built by Baltic Yachts and benefits from the deep experience of a design and build team which has worked together on numerous projects.
Baltic Yachts’ project management was led by Patric Brännbacka who worked alongside the owner’s representative Tatiana Kurbatova and project manager Sebastian Allebrodt of A2B Marine Projects. “The build benefitted from excellent teamwork between Baltic and the owner’s representative which contributed to this complex yacht being launched and delivered ahead of time,” said Baltic Yachts’ Executive Vice President Henry Hawkins.
Naval architect judel/vrolijk has produced a good looking, powerful sailing yacht with an easy to handle, versatile sailplan which allows a short-handed crew to ‘change gear’ at the press of a button to achieve optimum sailing performance in different wind conditions. The ability to choose from a wide variety of headsails plus numerous offwind sails set off the fixed bowsprit will enable Path’s crew to keep the yacht at peak performance.Baltic 146 Path successfully delivered
Lift keel, rotating saildrive
The light weight sloop features well proven systems seen on other Baltic Yachts, including a lifting keel, which reduces draft from 5.9m to 3.4m, and a forward-facing saildrive propulsion system (SPS) which also rotates through 340° for manoeuvrability.
The focal point of her accommodation is a long deck saloon/main cockpit combination on the same level, providing the perfect platform for well protected al fresco living at rest or underway. An open-sided, hardtop bimini extends over the main cockpit and is fitted with mesh side screens for increased sun and weather protection.
A large array of solar panels covering 60sq m of the hardtop roof can generate up to 8kW to boost the battery bank charging facilities and reduce the use of fossil fuels. Further aft, the helm position is protected by a dedicated bimini with apertures to provide a good view of the sailplan.
Path is the first yacht from Baltic Yachts to be fitted with main propulsion and generating machinery with new IMO (International Maritime Organisation) Tier 111 engine emission status. Her main engine is an eight-cylinder Scania unit.
Path carries two tenders, one an 8hp Torqeedo electric outboard-powered RIB stowed in the large stern garage, the other a 6.5m twin-engined RibEye stowed in a foredeck recess which converts to a swimming pool while Path is at rest. The yacht is also equipped with two ultra-lightweight Reverso Match sailing dinghies the hulls of which can disassemble into four parts for easy stowage.
Up forward, Path is fitted with a lightweight titanium swing anchor arm and a submarine anchor system providing ground tackle back-up and versatility for anchoring in any situation. She is also fitted with a powerful hydraulic bow thruster.Baltic 146 Path successfully delivered

Advanced sound deadening materials and the volume afforded by Path’s size means the owner’s suite can be located amidships to take full advantage of maximum beam, the point at which there is least motion. The owner’s suite comprises a sleeping cabin, an en suite lounge with a glass divider doubling as a movie, tv and sailing information screen and an upper lounge fitted with a 2.7m long video ‘wall’. There is a large en suite bathroom equipped with a full-size carbon fibre bath.
Accommodation is for eight guests plus the owner’s suite and a four-cabin lay-out aft for eight crew including the captain.
On show at Monaco
Path will undertake a programme of world cruising and will initially make her way to the Mediterranean from Finland. She will be available for viewing at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show which runs from 22-25 September.
