Super sail APEX 850 higher then the Statue of Liberty

Malcolm McKeon and Royal Huisman teamed up to form an 85 meter long supersail with a 107 meter high single mast. There is no longer a sloop in the world or a larger aluminum sailboat.

The Apex 850’s aluminum hull is strong and durable: lighter than steel, quieter than carbon, and virtually corrosion-free. The living work is completed with two rudders and a deep retractable keel that stretches the draft to 8.5 meters (5 when it is up) to maintain balance and stability.

The rig is composed of a carbon fiber mast taller than the Statue of Liberty and a boom capable of supporting 3,200 square meters of sails when the sailboat sails upwind, and 4,700 when code 0 is added in the bow to advance to downwind.

The shipyard maintains that the ship will easily exceed the speed of the wind.

A minimalist deck, with clean and elegant lines, with several spaces for recreation. At the stern there is a section of the folding deck and a 50 square meter bathing platform, where there is a gym and a social area with direct access from the beach club.

Not even the superstructure escapes from that geometric game by hiding everything possible, since this one, made of glass, houses one of the main social areas of the ship, although it is impossible to see it from the deck. And it is that the designers promise a unique experience to anyone who sets foot in the Apex 850.

The living room occupies 200 square meters and is designed on one level, ensuring spectacular 360-degree views, with huge side windows that slide open. Stairs provide access to the guest cabins, four 30-square-meter suites that can accommodate up to a dozen guests.

An area of 200 square meters for the owner, enough for a lounge, a private cinema room and even a beach club. The cabin occupies the entire beam (19 meters) and has a dressing room, bathroom and sauna.

The Apex 850 also has other details such as the wine cellar, the cigar humidor or the small kitchen installed in the owner’s area.

Below deck, towards the bow, there is a 50 square meter space that stores water toys with a crane to take them into the water.
