Superbia 28, ambitious project: carbon and only carbon

Describing a new model proposed on the market is never easy, especially when it comes to a product that is certainly niche, but with great potential.
The Superbia 28 was recently launched and represents the finalization of the first project wanted by the start-up “Occhilupo Yacht & Carbon”, a young company established in 2019 whose components come from design collaborations with important companies in the automotive, military and space sectors. The company, born from Alessandro Occhilupo’s passion for boating, aims to use the most advanced materials and construction techniques used in the world of super-cars and in the aerospace sector in the nautical sector.

The bet was not easy but the first goal was achieved: to put in the water a boat made entirely of carbon fiber capable of achieving thrilling performance with a relatively low power in relation to the size of the hull. Everything has been designed with a view to maximizing the weight / power ratio. The boat equipped with two 200hp outboard motors each reaches the remarkable speed of 48 knots in complete safety. Tests are underway aimed at choosing the ideal propellers to increase performance. The expected project speed with more powerful engines is close to 60 knots.

The design was taken care of by Gianluca Meschino: the lines and shapes, aggressive and at the same time elegant, are designed to enhance the sporty character of the hull by combining comfort and liveability on board.

The study of the design has paid particular attention not only to the water lines but also to the topside as aerodynamic solutions have been adopted on the sides towards aft borrowed from the air intakes of racing cars. The particular solution is functional to increase the air pressure on the aft area of the boat to the advantage of stability and trim at high speeds.

The design approach was fundamental because, before the processing phase, advanced simulation techniques were applied, including numerical fluid dynamics and structural analysis. These processes have facilitated, on the materials actually used, tensile and bending tests to test the actual behavior of the materials themselves under stress.

Pride 28

The lamination of the hull and superstructures was performed using only carbon through the epoxy resin vacuum infusion technique. This produced strong and lightweight structures.

Superbia 28 is available in three versions and can be modeled according to the needs of each owner.
It is possible to choose the colors of the external liveries (pastel or metallized) up to the definition of the internal fittings or leathers, fabrics, cushions and options.
Customization is a source of pride for the shipyard which aims to put the know-how, sensitivity and imagination of its staff at the customer’s service so that each yacht built has unique distinctive characteristics.

From a propulsive point of view, precisely in consideration of the reduced weight of the boat, “green” solutions are being studied for the following models which involve the use of electric motors with marginal alterations to performance.
