The 1st stage of the UIM X-CAT Offshore World Championship ended yesterday, Sunday 6 March 2022, in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, a stage that was dominated by the Italian pilots.
First among them, the Venetian Giovanni Carpitella, who paired with the Australian Darren Nicholson on “222 Offshore”, won Race 1 on Saturday 5 March and yesterday the second place in Race 2; results that ensured them the victory of the first round of the XCAT World Championship.
A great start to the Championship for the strong Italian-Australian team, always able to express themselves at the highest levels.
Second step of the absolute podium for the crew of the “Six”, composed by the Monegasque Tomaso Polli paired with the Italian driver Matteo Nicolini.
Polli and Nicolini closed the two races with 4th place in Race 1 and the victory in Race 2.
Third classified at the end of the two Arab races, the crew of the two pilots of the “Foresti & Suardi”, Roberto Lo Piano and Giampaolo Montavoci. A third final place that the two Italian drivers had to share in Fujairah with the Arab crew of the “Dubai Police” (led by Arif Al Zaffin and Nadir Bin Hendi), who finished on equal points.
Next stages of the X-CAT World Championship in Italy in June.
