Italian studio Azcarate Design has revealed its new 111-metre concept named Eleuthera.
Christened after the longest island in the Bahamas, Eleuthera’s fluid, aerodynamic exterior was inspired by “the most marvellous creatures of the sea,” including tiger sharks and humpback whales. The vertical windows are meant to resemble gills, while the “stingray-finned” Sat-com, rippling aft deck and reverse bow further develop the vessel’s distinctive profile.
There is also allegedly some automotive inspiration, derived from Juan Cayo Azcarate’s history as a professional race car driver and the design studio’s studies of sports yachts in the 15-22 metre range, which they “maximised” when conceptualising Eleuthera.
Accommodation is for up to 22 guests across 11 cabins, including a 235-square-metre owner’s cabin with a panoramic viewing window, two private staircases to the main deck and a terrace that provides 360-degree ocean views. There is additional space for an extensive crew of 31.
Interior renderings reveal a modern, airy aesthetic, with floor-to-ceiling windows, geometric skylights and low-profile, monochromatic furniture.
The main deck is fitted with a marble-clad pool, lounge and dining areas which can be transformed into both a dance floor and an open-air cinema. The upper deck forward features a helipad alongside an additional al fresco dining area, while the space under the helipad is dedicated to a large tender garage, able to store a 12.2-metre speedboat and three service tenders.
Eleuthera’s extended stern and transom provide abundant seats for sun-soaking, as well as direct passage to the interior bar and garage. The beach club can also be converted into a saltwater pool.
The superyacht is envisioned with a maximum speed of 27 knots and an impressive range for transatlantic voyages at 7,000 nautical miles. With a draft of 4.5 metres, it would also be capable of navigating the shallow bays and anchorages of its namesake – the Bahamas.
