After the conclusion of the 2024 Rolex Circuito Atlántico Sur, the action in Punta del Este continues with the 2024 CLASSICS WEEK for Classic Sailboats, Vintage, Classic IOR, and Spirit of Tradition. The traditional event is co-organized by the Yacht Club Argentino and the Yacht Club Punta del Este.
This year, 24 boats with more than 200 crew members are participating in the Classic Sailboats (6), Vintage Series A and Series B (11), and Spirit of Tradition (7) categories from Argentina and Uruguay.
On Monday, January 22, the day started with a captains’ meeting at the Yacht Club Punta del Este, welcoming them.
Today, Tuesday, January 23, the first race of the Classics Week, La Barra Circuit, 16 miles, with a single start for the entire fleet, took place. The conditions were very pleasant, with a sunny day and an east-southeast wind starting at 10 knots and increasing to 19 knots during the day.
Tomorrow, after the races, a captain’s cocktail will be offered at the Yacht Club Punta del Este headquarters.
