Sailing Towards Victory and Supporting Grassroots Sailing
As anticipation builds for the 37th America’s Cup, Emirates Team New Zealand (ETNZ) charges ahead with meticulous preparations. Following intensive testing in the Hauraki Gulf with the new AC75, co-skipper Nathan Outteridge confirms the team’s next move: setting sail for Barcelona.
Over 14 days in Auckland, Taihoro, the formidable AC75, has already shown promising results, as Outteridge attests. Speaking to AC Recon, he expresses satisfaction, stating, “We couldn’t have asked for better conditions. We ventured into the Gulf in search of waves and strong winds, navigating through light breezes.”
Embarking to Barcelona
As the Auckland chapter nears its end, Taihoro and the team’s equipment are ready for a new adventure. Soon, they will board a Kiwi cargo vessel, embarking on a sea voyage to Barcelona. Barring any unforeseen weather challenges, the journey is expected to take about a month, with arrival in the Catalonian city slated for early July.
The transition to Barcelona signifies a significant phase in ETNZ’s America’s Cup campaign. With rigorous testing complete, the team now focuses on optimizing performance and strategy in Mediterranean waters. Emirates Team New Zealand’s America’s Cup preparations are complete.
Additionally, as Emirates Team New Zealand prepares for its journey to Barcelona, they are actively participating in the Kiwi Cup Raffle, a nationwide initiative aimed at raising essential funds for sailing clubs, schools, and teams across New Zealand. By supporting this initiative, ETNZ is not only showcasing its dedication to the sport but also contributing to the growth and development of sailing at the grassroots level.
