The FlyingNikka, designed by Mark Mills, is gearing up to redefine the regatta scene. This season, the innovative foiling maxi yacht will showcase its latest enhancements in a series of races starting with the Spring Regattas in Portofino, Liguria.
Poised for Regatta Domination: FlyingNikka 2024 Regatta Season
From May 3 to 5, FlyingNikka will compete against over 30 Maxi yachts off the coast between Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino. The team will test the winter upgrades that aim to enhance performance, especially in lighter winds, making every race not just a competition but a proving ground for its advanced design.
Challenging the Limits in Major Offshore Regattas
Following the Spring Regattas, FlyingNikka will tackle two significant offshore challenges. Firstly, it will navigate through the Tuscan Archipelago in the 151 Miglia-Trofeo Cetilar starting May 30. Then, it will race from Saint Tropez to Genoa, passing the iconic island of Giraglia in the Loro Piana Giraglia starting June 12.
Setting Sights on Record-Breaking Performance
Additionally, the team is planning a record attempt in the Mediterranean, details of which they will announce during the season. This ambition highlights their commitment to not only competing but also setting new standards in the sailing world.
Backed by Expertise and High-Tech Partnerships
Supported by leading partners like TAG Heuer and North Sails, FlyingNikka is well-prepared for success. These collaborations provide essential technology and support, propelling the yacht to new heights of performance.
The Excitement Builds
As FlyingNikka prepares for another competitive season, it’s not alone in pushing the boundaries of sailing technology. Over in Barcelona, Alinghi Red Bull Racing is also making waves with their AC75 ‘Boat One,’ mastering the waters in pre-America’s Cup training sessions. This display of innovation and skill highlights a similar dedication to evolving sailing technologies that we see with FlyingNikka.
