Lürssen Unveils 142-Metre Superyacht Dragonfly

German shipyard Lürssen has officially released details on its latest masterpiece, the 142.1-metre superyacht Dragonfly. The highly anticipated vessel, previously known as Project Ali Baba, was delivered on 3 December following years of secrecy during her construction.

A Striking Exterior by German Frers

Dragonfly draws stylistic inspiration from the 85.2-metre Pacific, another Lürssen yacht featuring exterior design by German Frers. With a sleek grey hull, elongated bow, and bold lines stretching across her four decks, she epitomizes contemporary elegance.

Interior Luxury by Nauta Design

Italian studio Nauta Design has crafted an interior that perfectly balances opulence with functionality. With an expansive volume of approximately 9,500GT, Dragonfly boasts an array of standout features, including:

  • A glass-bottom pool on the main deck.
  • A cinema and spa for relaxation and entertainment.
  • A water sports centre catering to adventure-seekers.

One deck is entirely dedicated to business and leisure, featuring a spacious office, gym, games room, and helicopter hangar.

Innovation at the Stern

One of Dragonfly’s defining features is her bespoke double-folding platform system at the stern. This innovative design allows the deck above to fold seamlessly into the platform, transforming the area into a versatile beach club with direct access to the water.

Advanced Engineering and Sustainability

“One of the many hallmarks of any Lürssen yacht is the mastery of technical challenges. Dragonfly is no exception,” said Peter Lürssen, managing partner at the shipyard. “She is a large, powerful yacht that can cruise efficiently anywhere in the world, fitted with a highly efficient diesel-electric hybrid propulsion concept developed by our in-house engineering specialists.”

A Remarkable Journey

Dragonfly first captured public attention in May 2022 when she emerged from the construction shed in two halves. Later, she made headlines in December 2023 due to a technical mishap at Lürssen’s Bremen facility, which saw her bow push into the dock curtain.

Her delivery adds to a series of high-profile Lürssen launches, including the 122-metre Kismet, which recently made a splash in London this October.

As Dragonfly embarks on her maiden voyages, she is set to further Lürssen’s legacy of producing groundbreaking superyachts that combine cutting-edge technology with unparalleled luxury.
