Pampero of Down Claims Victory in Offshore ORC A2 at Trofeo SM La Reina 2025

A fleet of eleven yachts set sail from Valencia at 12:30 PM on Friday, June 27, marking the start of the Offshore ORC A2 race of the 26th Trofeo S.M. La Reina – 37th Copa Almirante Marcial Sánchez-Barcaíztegui, the flagship regatta of the Real Club Náutico de Valencia (RCNV).

The offshore challenge spanned a demanding 161-nautical mile course from the Manel Casanova race area to Ibiza and back to Valencia. After over 31 hours of intense sailing, Rodrigo Quesada’s Nicholson 35 Pampero of Down (Marina Valencia) emerged victorious, completing the race in 31 hours and 22 minutes.

🥇 Final Results & Standings

  • 1st Place: Pampero of Down – Nicholson 35 – Rodrigo Quesada (Marina Valencia)
  • 2nd Place: M10 ZAS C&R – Swan 45 – Brothers Francés (RCN Valencia), defending champions from 2024
  • 3rd Place: O’Marylou – X-332 – Jesús de Miguel (CNM International)

Following the top trio were Va de Bo (Italia 11.98, Joaquín Pérez), Oui (Corby 36, Toni Garcés), Vikingo (First 45, Antonio Picot), and Crosswind (JV 44, Vicente Iranzo), placing fourth to seventh respectively. Reti (First 35S5, Xavier Santamaría) and Entropía (JOD 35, Pablo Aleixandre) completed the top nine.

Unfortunately, two yachts retired due to the high level of difficulty: Tortooga (Rafa Ruiz) and Jambo Mar sin plástico (Julio Sánchez), both from Marina Valencia.

🌊 A Demanding Mediterranean Course

The challenging route required competitors to sail from Valencia toward Ibiza, passing the Bledas Islets to starboard, circling Es Vedranell, and returning along the same corridor. The offshore leg is part of the Mediterranean Offshore Circuit, adding prestige and competitive intensity to the event.
