The second day of the XXVI Trofeo S.M. La Reina – XXXVII Copa Almirante Marcial Sánchez-Barcaíztegui, the premier regatta organized by the Real Club Náutico de Valencia, brought a dynamic mix of light and building winds, challenging nearly 1,000 sailors competing across eight classes and representing 11 nations.

Saturday’s inshore competition was spread across three courses — Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie — with varying wind conditions dictating the pace. The morning started with a light 7-knot breeze from 180°, causing delays and cancellations in some classes. But by mid-afternoon, the wind had shifted to 120° and strengthened to 10–12 knots, allowing most fleets to complete their scheduled races.

World-Class Competition Across Borders
Teams from Spain, Italy, Germany, the UK, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Montenegro, Turkey, UAE, and Argentina continued to demonstrate the international scope and competitive caliber of the regatta. Among the sailors are nearly 60 Olympic, America’s Cup, World Championship, and Volvo Ocean Race veterans, elevating the level of performance on display.

A Mediterranean Benchmark
The regatta is part of the Official Calendar of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation (RFEV) and is a key event in both the Mediterranean Sailing Circuit and the Lliga de Creuers de la Comunitat Valenciana.

Organized by RCNV in collaboration with the Valencian Sailing Federation (FVCV), the event also enjoys strong institutional support from the Higher Sports Council, Generalitat Valenciana, City of Valencia, Valencia Sports Foundation, and Provincial Council of Valencia, as well as partners like World Sailing, Turisme València, visitvalencia.com, AEMET, and Red Cross.
