Palma will once again shine as the Mediterranean capital of classic sailing as the XXX Regatta Illes Balears Clàssics sets sail from August 13–17, 2025 at Club de Mar-Mallorca. This milestone edition celebrates three decades of history, elegance, and sporting excellence, bringing together 40 iconic vessels, including some of the world’s most legendary yachts.

Among the highlights are Tuiga (1909), flagship of the Yacht Club de Monaco; The Lady Anne (1912); and the celebrated Manitou, once nicknamed “the floating White House” for being John F. Kennedy’s yacht. Making its debut this year is the majestic Cariad (1896), a 36-meter masterpiece that promises to be a centerpiece of the regatta.

Competition & Categories
The fleet will race across several divisions: Classics, Vintage (Gaff and Bermudian), RI Classics, Spirit of Tradition, and Big Boats. A special non-competitive section called “Presence” will allow emblematic vessels—such as the traditional llaüt Alzina and the 52-meter schooner Doña Francisca—to share the atmosphere and beauty of the event without entering the competition.

Courses will stretch between 8 and 22 nautical miles, including a long-distance race. “This year’s regatta will showcase both the sporting and cultural value of classic sailing,” said Commodore Manuel Nadal, who emphasized the blend of heritage and competitive spirit.

Economic & Cultural Impact
According to José Luis Arrom, general director of Club de Mar-Mallorca, the regatta is expected to generate an economic impact of €1.7 million, representing a 25% increase over last year. Beyond its financial contribution, the event is recognized for enhancing Palma’s prestige as a global hub for maritime heritage.
Sustainability & Partnerships

The Regatta Illes Balears Clàssics is proudly supported by Marine Pool, Allianz, and Howden. Sustainability will once again be central: all proceeds from beverage sales will go to the Almas Marinas Foundation, while a special prize from Sail4Earth will honor the crew that contributes the most via the Uno Earth app to marine reserve protection.

Social & Cultural Program
This anniversary edition will feature a rich cultural agenda, including:
- A photographic exhibition by renowned nautical photographer Nico Martínez
- A lecture on naval heritage by Ricardo Álvarez Maldonado, delegate of the Spanish Navy for sailing
- Guided dockside tours led by maritime historian Leonardo de Vincentiis
- Exclusive cocktail evenings for crews and guests

The press presentation, held aboard Doña Francisca, was attended by leading sponsors and partners, including Gabriel Mestres (Allianz Mallorca), José Cuart (Howden), Esperanza Llinás (Eulen Balearics), David Ramljak (Boatsters), and representatives from Glicerrr.
Part of a Prestigious Circuit
The regatta is included in the 15th Mare Nostrum Classics Trophy – Spanish Cup of Classic Sailing, the 2025 CIM Circuit (Mediterranean International Championship), and the Mediterranean Champions Cup, under the organization of the Vintage Classic Yacht Club (VCYC).

Organized by Club de Mar-Mallorca on behalf of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, with support from the Balearic Sailing Federation, the Royal National Cruising Association, and the Spanish Association of Vintage and Classic Boats, the Regatta Illes Balears Clàssics continues to honor the tradition, beauty, and passion of classic sailing.
