Design, technology, charm and luxury is the blend that characterizes the new Cayman Yachts 400 Wa. Here is the new Cayman Yachts project that will be presented at the next autumn fairs, but previewed at the NauticSud 2021 in Naples, to debut in the nautical market of the “day cruiser” segment as a precursor of a new range of boats with an exclusive concept and unmistakable style.
An absolute novelty at Cayman Yachts, the new Cayman Yachts 400 WA is the result of an in-depth study of the market trends of the last few years and the result of an entrepreneurial action that in fact characterizes the evolution of the Cayman Yachts shipyard, already a player in the Fly and Hard Top WA motor boats for 40 years, where it has placed over 2,000 boats destined for a high-level market, and now intends to consolidate and perfect its presence in the Walk Around Open Day boats market of which the Cayman Yachts shipyard is has been the forerunner for over 25 years with the Cayman 38/40/43 Walk around models.
The strategy seems to be the winning one given the interest in this new model even before its official presentation. This boat represents a project, signed by Studio Ferragni, with a concentration of essential characteristics such as comfort, production quality and refined aesthetics (original not totally unprecedented in the nautical world panorama), only excellent performances, destined to attract the attention of a public of elite, sensitive to the uniqueness of the product and the peculiarity of its technical characteristics. Its hull has been thoroughly studied with the CFD Computational Fluid Dynamics system, to ensure navigation in total comfort and safety even in the presence of rather important waves and strong wind, and a reliability that will never put you in difficulty while sailing with adverse sea. The navigation will be dry even in rough seas and at high speeds; the cockpit is very well protected, although the shape of the hull can give a different impression, moreover the space on deck, the wraparound edges and the high bow instill safety and stability in the owner.
The dashboard gives the feeling of grandeur as if you were piloting a higher level yachts, but in reality the Cayman Yachts 400 WA is an Open Day Boat of about 13 meters and its driving is comfortable even in rough seas. Event though it’s an Open, the guide is protected by a curved plex windscreen avoiding annoying air flows into the face. The turn will be well defined and without too many jolts thanks to Volvo Penta’s Pod Ips600, 435 hp engines, which are optional. As standard, the Ips500s are supplied with two 350hp engines or 2 versions of 350Hp or 400Hp Mercury outboard motors.
With the two 435 horsepower Ips600 it is expected to reach 34 knots even in rough seas. The cruising speed ranges from the economic one of 20 knots (at 2,500 rpm) to the fast one of 26 knots (3,000 rpm) with fuel consumption that can be from 80 and 120 liters / hour, but if you opt for a moderate speed around at 20/22 knots consumption is expected to be really interesting, while at the same time obtaining a more comfortable, quiet and comfortable life on board The layout includes a large interior space on board in the lower deck where there is an area divided into two cabins, one with a big bed and a second with a double bed (optional) as well as a comfortable bathroom with a separate shower. As in the Cayman policy, all colors, materials and interior accessories can be customized in line with the owner’s tastes and lifestyle.
In the external deck cockpit, a walkaround conformation has been developed protected by raised sides, which ensure safety for guests on board, even those less used to sailing in adverse sea conditions, and children. The entire floor of the cockpit and walkway is proposed (optional) in solid teak with slats and, on request, can be replaced by synthetic teak. Despite the very tight and essential shape of the external silhouette, this 13 mt offers a comfortable forward sundeck and a stern sundeck, both very comfortable and designed to completely dissimulate the external look.
The open day nature of the Cayman Yachts 400 WA, for daily pleasure use (even if the interior habitability is also suitable for small cruises), cannot ignore the aft platform of considerable importance, in fact Cayman offers a long and submersible beach platform thanks to the tenderlift (on request), which ensures relaxation and fun at the water’s edge during the bay, effectively expanding the walkable area of the cockpit. Immediately adjacent to the platform there is a large area dedicated to the sundeck in addition to the comfortable sofa with counter seats and teak table with variable height. Under the sundeck there is a stowage compartment that can also be set up as a garage for the inflatable tender, as well as stowing toys whose opening adjacent to the platform ensures enormous comfort of use during the bath.
The two sofas, facing each other with a table in the middle, form a dinette for eight people, at the service of which there is a kitchen unit equipped with a stove, sink and refrigerator; on request, it is possible to install another drawer fridge, an ice maker, a barbecue or an induction hob. The dinette / galley area that extends into the central part of the cockpit is protected by a T-Top with plexiglass skylights, fixed on a carbon structure; the helm station is also protected by the T-Top which extends towards the bow up to the windscreen and where there is a huge dashboard where the control instruments via display and electronic instruments are installed.
In the bow area of the deck there is another sunbathing area equipped with two handrails along its entire length on both sides while in the bow triangle there is a technical area for mooring maneuvers (with winch, chain shaft and cleats) and a practical sofa opposite the sundeck with cup holder. In the Cayman Yachts WA, the careful study of the propulsion made it possible to place the 370 hp Volvo Penta Ips500 engines (optional 435 hp Ips600) in the middle of the boat, in strict compliance with the Volvo protocol which requires to preserve the center of gravity of the boat in the correct position and with to avoiding excessive raising of the bow, and obtaining the best performance in terms of stability, consumption and gliding speed. The Cayman Yachts 400 WA has a unique peculiarity of its kind also as regards the propulsion: it provides the possibility of installing 2 standard outboard motors of 350Hp or 400 Hp and the same are placed under the aft sundeck, preserving the style and look external as the outboard motors remain hidden.
In both propulsion solutions, the engine room is arranged in a coherent manner with a respectable technical inspection, and ensuring a huge space of movement thanks to the arrangement of all the technical utilities studied by the designers in a capillary and optimized way on site. From a technical point of view, the hull of the Cayman Yachts 400 WA is produced in vinylester resin with the contact technique. The V hull forward of over 44 °, and a stern deadrise of 18 °, with a high and slightly inverted bow, allow this boat to have high performance, excellent stability even in rough seas.
The official presentation and world debut is scheduled for the 48th NAUTICSUD 2021 edition in Naples, where it will be possible to view it and then after the fair, try it at sea in the suggestive docks of Mergellina
