Summer is here and everyone is focused on relaxing, traveling, and getting a tan. And celebrities are just like us when it comes to that, except with more exotic destinations and luxurious yachts.
Lionel Messi and his best friend and former colleague from Barcelona FC, Cesc Fabregas, took their wives and families on a lavish vacation in Ibiza, Spain, which also coincided with Messi’s birthday on June 24.
Messi’s family consists of his wife Antonela Roccuzzo and their three children, Mateo, nine, Thiago, six, and Ciro, four. Fabregas has also brought his wife Daniella Semaan and their three kids – Lia, Capri, and Leonardo.
The two soccer players, who are currently relaxing ahead of a new season, have splashed on a $318,000 (€303,000) a week mansion on the Spanish island, which included six bedrooms, a gym, and a 65-ft (20 meters) swimming pool, with 22 members of staff, Daily Mail reports.
The two decided to go sailing as well, because there’s nothing like some time on the water. For that, the same outlet reports the two chartered a yacht named Shaliman II, as seen in some of the pictures Lionel Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, posted.
The open yacht Shaliman II has a length of 90 ft (27.42 m), a low draft of 5’5″ (1.65 m), and a beam of 20’5″ (6.23 m). It was built by the Italian shipyard Pershing in 2009 with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure. It’s put in motion by twin MTU engines which take it to a cruise speed of 38 knots (44 mph / 70 kph) and a maximum speed of 44 knots (51 mph / 81 kph), according to Yacht Charter Fleet.
The yacht was refitted in 2018, and it can accommodate up to eight guests in four suits which comprise a master suite, a VIP cabin, and two twin cabins. The yacht also comes with four crew members to cater to your every need, with a price of approximately $62,500 (€59,000) per week, plus expenses.
During their holiday, the two couples also checked into Mim Hotel, which belongs to Lionel Messi.
