The first F50s have hit the water in Dubai to begin vital practice time ahead of this weekend’s 2025 Season opener.
Mubadala Brazil, Germany, the United States, ROCKWOOL Racing, Switzerland and Emirates GBR have all been seen training on Mina Rashid, while crews from Canada and Italy have been training on other teams’ F50s.
It comes as the fleet prepares for the most expansive SailGP season yet, with at least 13 events taking place across five continents. Racing will begin on November 23/24 against the iconic backdrop of Dubai, with new teams Italy and Mubadala Brazil on the start line for the first time.
The two new teams will have the chance to face off against the rest of the F50 fleet for the first time on Friday across three scheduled practice races before official racing begins on Saturday.
Changes to established crew set ups have been rife in the off season, with Kiwi flight controller Andy Maloney transferring to Mubadala Brazil and Emirates GBR driver Giles Scott moving to Canada. Meanwhile, long-time team Australia has lost wing trimmer Kyle Langford, while Dylan Fletcher has stepped into the driving seat on board Emirates GBR.
Racing takes place in Dubai between 14:00-15:30 GST on Saturday and Sunday
